Norra Hospitalet are a trio from Northern Sweden playing punkrock in the style of The Damned, The Buzzcocks and the Swedish bands Ebba Grön and Attentat. In other words, pretty classic punkrock. It is the vocals who marks the band apart from others in this genre. I totally love Rebecca’s voice which is both heavy hearted and sensitive. She really accentuates the melodies in a good way which makes the band even more interesting.

All seven tracks are solid and even though I like ”Våran Röst” and ”Tillsammans” very much they can’t compete with the first song ”Bakom ljuset”. That song is totally awesome and a big reason to put this record on repeat. The lyrics are in swedish but I actually think that the music is strong enough to speak to the minds of those who doesn’t understand the language.

Norra Hospitalet has created a really good record with very limited means. They prove that you don’t have to be the most technical musician in order to write enjoyable music. All you need is a big heart and three chords. I really hope that this record won’t go unnoticed. Therefore, I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates classic punkrock. Give it at least a try.
